Counseling Services

The OUCC provides students with access to caring and talented counselors who can help them with a wide variety of presenting concerns. These services are designed to help students find and maintain balance in their mental, emotional, academic, social and occupational lives as they navigate life as a college student.

Individual counseling is an opportunity to talk confidentially with a counselor about personal concerns and to facilitate personal growth. The counselor and client work together to define and discuss personal issues and to reach mutually agreed upon goals. The Counseling Center offers short-term counseling for a range of issues such as:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety (panic attacks, test anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders)
  • Eating Disorders
  • Underachievement
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Family Conflict
  • Grief and Loss

  • Sexuality
  • Substance Abuse
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Sexual Assault/Trauma
  • Anger Management

Counselors are available to discuss personal concerns an individual or couple may be facing and will work with them to develop new ways of resolving or mastering the problem. Counseling is provided by Licensed Psychologists and Interns. Staff that are not fully licensed are supervised by Licensed Psychologists.

Couples may be seen for short-term counseling. Counseling is provided by Licensed Psychologists, Post-Doctoral Psychologists, and Interns. Staff that are not fully licensed are supervised by Licensed Psychologists. Improved communication and learning to resolve conflict is the focus of these counseling sessions.
